Treatment for skin cancer

Gary-skin cancer survivor Treatment for skin cancer here in the United States is most often the conventional methods used by the medical profession.

That was not my first choice. I feared chemotherapy, radiation and surgery.

I began a natural cure method, but I reached a point where my squamous cell tumors were progressing quickly and I was scared.

I then turned to all the conventional methods of the medical profession and combined them with a healthy living style.

I'll tell you about the treatment for skin cancer I experienced in My Story.

To determine which treatment for skin cancer is best for you is ultimately your choice.

You may choose an alternative approach to treat your skin cancer or the conventional methods available. I used both.

If you choose conventional medicine, your doctor will choose which treatments for skin cancer would work best for you. If you are in the very early stage of skin cancer, you may only need one form of treatment such as surgery.

You doctor will be taking into consideration a number of things.

doctor Among them would include:

• the extent of the skin cancer

• your health condition, medical history and age

• how well you could tolerate specific medications, procedures, or therapies

• expectations for the course of the disease

• your own personal opinion or preference

Surgery

Surgery is the common skin cancer treatment and is used about 90% of the time.

mohs surgery Some surgical procedures are:

• cryosurgery – a technique used for freezing and killing cancer cells

• electrodessication and curettage – a method in which the lesion is scooped out with a sharp instrument and then the lesion is burned with an electric current

• laser therapy – a high intense light used to remove cancer cells

Mohs Surgery – removing the cancer and as little as possible of the normal tissue. The doctor then uses a microscope to be sure no cancer cells remain

Simple Excision Surgery – cutting away the cancer along with some healthy tissue around it

• grafting – the use of a skin graft to replace damaged skin after removing the cancer

My surgery was far more extensive than any of the above. It was called a bilateral neck dissection. I had squamous cell tumors on each side of my neck and in my throat. Read About My Surgery And 20 years Later.

Radiation

radiation therapy Radiation Treatment is the use of a radiation machine that emits x-rays killing cancer cells and shrinking tumors.

It is common to combine Radiation Treatment for Cancer with another treatment for skin cancer such as surgery, Chemotherapy and hormone therapy or some mixture of the three.

Side effects from radiation can be mild and limited or can be severe and long term.

Proton Therapy

This is a radiation therapy that's been around for a while but only in these recent years is becoming more widely used. It us used to destroy tumors from any type of cancer. We know not all skin cancer produces tumors but some do.

What differentiates it from other radiation treatments is the advanced technology enabling it to target only the cancerous tumor and not harm any of the healthy flesh, before, after or surrounding the tumor itself.

This, in turn, allows the patient to be left with a normal functional and quality life.

To learn more about it and for a medical facility that performs it, do a Google search. Just type in "Procure Protron Therapy" or just "Protron Therapy".

Chemotherapy

chemotherapy Chemotherapy is another type of treatment for skin cancer.

Chemotherapy is the use of anti-cancer drugs to destroy cancer cells.

For skin cancer Chemotherapy can be Applied As A Topical Cream or administered through a drip into the vein.

acupuncture

Altenative procedures for symptomatic relief

Alternative Treatment for skin cancer could include such things as acupuncture or various forms of therapeutic massage.

These procedures should not be mistaken as an actual treatment for skin cancer itself.

There’s evidence suggesting that acupuncture can help relieve some cancer related symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. There have also been some indications that it may help relieve pain and shortness of breath.

Alternative cures do have a high rate of success

healthy food General nutrition, food, supplements and herbs all play an important role in the prevention of disease and strengthening of your immune system.

Seek professional guidance.

Many medical doctors will work with you during this time, but you may find those who offer no support.

You just have to use your own gut feeling.

I personally focused on a Macrobiotic Diet as a cure for my squamous cell carcinoma.

The focus of this diet is to balance the PH level in your body liquids. For maximun health our bodily fluids should always be slightly more alkaline than acidic.

Our bodies also need a good supply of oxygen to fight off diseases.

There are times when we simply need a stronger infusion of alkalizing substances, oxygen, vitamins, minerals and/or herbs for us specifically.

I was being seen by doctors but I relied strongly in curing it myself.

The tumors spread and I was at a stage 3. My skin cancer treatments at this point ended up being Chemotherapy, surgery and Radiation Treatment. Now I am a 20 year survivor and I strongly believe that nutrition, diet and supplements have played a big role in helping me to make it these many years.

Always avoid stress as much as you can. Create a stress free atmosphere around you.
