Scared to death again..

by Shelly Erdner
(Timberlake, N.C.)

I wrote a story recently about a cancer I had on my nose.

Because of the severity of it I had to have half of it removed.

I thought the nightmare was over but it still continues. A couple of months ago I went for a mole check.

Its funny how they always tell you to leave on your underwear. I did but luckily I had a spot I wanted the dermatologist to look at and she told me it was a clogged pore. But she found a mole that was small and black she wanted to take off on my lower right buttocks area.

On the left side I had a mole that had been there as long as I can remember but had raised up and got bigger over time.

So I asked her to remove it also. Did you know that moles can change shape and size every day?

Its up to you watch them you know your own body more than they do. While continuing my body exam she noticed a funny shaped mole that was also dark in color under my bra line and an irregular shaped freckle in front of my ear.

They removed all of those and I got a call a week later saying they were all beginning stages of melanoma.

I had to go back to the Mohs clinic for the spot in front of my ear. My left and right buttocks I had to have surgery.

A week after my surgery I developed mercer and anther bacteria. It was horrifying!

Another week later and the wound on my right side reopened.

I had to take all these antibiotics to help get rid of all the bacteria. It is still healing today. Thank God everything is clear, they got it all.

I still go back every 6 months but I feel like a time bomb fixin to explode.

When I look at myself I feel like every mole has cancer. That last was four places ...luckily my bra line didn't need anymore treatment. I will keep you updated and if you have moles on your buttocks, please take off your underwear.

"MELANOMA : “NO BIG DEAL ” IT'S JUST SKIN CANCER!

Hi! My name is Nick and I’m 56 yrs. old and this is part of my story. Let me tell you, I was like a lot of people out there and I had no idea that skin cancer was anything bad. I had Basal cell back in 2007, but that was no big deal and it was removed and that was the end of that. No one told me that it was a type of skin cancer (I looked it up on my computer). But still no big deal, it would not kill me.
But I did know the word "Melanoma"....." --by Nick

Bottom Line
The Weather Channel has done well posting this information and photos to help you spot skin cancer, including melanoma.
It can be hard to spot, even for a professional.
The bottom line is to get an expert's opinion about any suspicious mole or lesion on your skin. If necessary, get a second opinion  and/or request a biopsy. it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Don’t put your very life at risk!
