Recently the medical uses of marijuana for cancer patients has come to my attention. It has become legal to buy medical marijuana within certain states.
There are currently 22 medical marijuana states (including DC).
For a long time I’ve believed there are health benefits of marijuana. It can provide pain relief, nausea relief and make life more livable for many who suffer the effects of chemotherapy and radiation.
I say, “God Forbid”, that anyone should not allow terminally ill patients to be able to enjoy eating again, find relief from the stress and have their spirits lifted without negative side effects.
I remember being given nausea medicine after chemotherapy and radiation. It didn’t give me one bit of relief. I strongly craved certain foods and when I would get them, …guess what?
I couldn’t get the food down or I just heaved it all out.
The health benefits of marijuana for cancer patients and pain has long been known. I would have welcomed being able to use it.
After all my treatments …chemotherapy, radiation and major surgery, I was left devastated. I had pain, both physical and emotional, and found relief in the pain medication I was prescribed. In fact, I found so much relief that long after the real pain had passed, I was still taking the medication and always getting one of my doctors to give me some more refills.
I had become addicted to the pain medication and didn’t care about the rash on my skin that was continually breaking out (so much for the concern over marijuana being addictive).
I counseled with an alternative medicine practitioner and was soon able to stop the prescription pain medication.
It could have been much better, for me, if it would have been legal to buy medical marijuana for those who suffer.
I realize I could have obtained it illegally, but hey …I had just got the life zapped out of me from the treatments, so no …I didn’t want to be zapped anymore and penalized for my “crime” by the “justice” system.
To me, it all boils down to common sense (not common politics, dollars and cents). It’s about moderation. The overuse of any food, drink, herb, plant or any natural substance will sooner or later lead to an imbalance, sickness and disease. It can even take your life. Do you remember the man who died from drinking too much water?
Currently, these states allow the medical use of marijuana:
Buying, selling and possessing medical marijuana, even in a state where marijuana is legal, is still a violation of Federal Law.
Here’s an article you will find interesting. Will States Lead the Way to Legalizing Marijuana Nationwide?
A quote from another article posted in the New York Daily News (10/19/2009): “Federal drug agents won’t pursue pot-smoking patients or their sanctioned suppliers in states that allow medical marijuana, under new guidelines to be issued Monday by the Obama administration.
….the guidelines to be issued by the department do, however, make it clear that agents will go after people whose marijuana distribution goes beyond what is permitted under state law or use medical marijuana as a cover for other crimes, the officials said.”
Should marijuana be legalized?
If you feel like your state should start legalizing marijuana, then contact your state representatives.
If you feel like it should be legalized under Federal Law, then again, start contacting your representatives.

"MELANOMA : “NO BIG DEAL ” IT'S JUST SKIN CANCER!
Hi! My name is Nick and I’m 56 yrs. old and this is part of my story. Let me tell you, I was like a lot of people out there and I had no idea that skin cancer was anything bad. I had Basal cell back in 2007, but that was no big deal and it was removed and that was the end of that. No one told me that it was a type of skin cancer (I looked it up on my computer). But still no big deal, it would not kill me.
But I did know the word "Melanoma"....." --by Nick
