Join in the humor because laughter is the best cure or as we commonly hear, laughter is the best medicine.
When your heart is heavy and your mind is running wild with emotions and worries, laughing can be far from you.
Believe me, I know.
But when that moment comes, when something funny happens unexpectedly or someone tells a joke, it brings you to another place. Your heart is lifted, the load is relieved and the moment makes you feel relief.
20 years ago, when I was undergoing my chemo, surgery and radiation, it all tried to put me through some very deep depression, but I just fought it off. I definitely didn’t feel very happy, but I just tried to keep my mind on making progress every day.
So I tried to find things to make me laugh.
My alternative health counselor told me to laugh and sing every day. As much as I wanted to do that, it didn’t seem possible at the time. Whenever I did, most of the time, it was rather brief. Not a hearty laugh from deep down.
I do remember though that every once in a while, it all seemed so silly to me to keep trying to do something that I didn’t feel like doing. The silliness, and that alone, would make me just burst out with laughter and put a smile on my face.
Those are great moments.
Even though they are sometimes just moments, they are moments that make a difference.
Laughter is the best cure. AND NO, I wasn’t relying on it to cure me from skin cancer, but I did rely on it to help relieve the stress and anxiety; even if it was just for the moment. Anything one can do to lift the heart and ENJOY the moment is a wonderful thing.
Laughter is an instant vacation. –Milton Berle
All you need in the world is love and laughter. That’s all anybody needs. To have love in one hand and laughter in the other. –August Wilson
Even if there is nothing to laugh about, laugh on credit. –Author Unknown
We all have different things that make us laugh. And to each of us there are also some things that are supposed to be funny, but in fact, seem nonsensical, stupid, and inappropriate,
… but, for sure, we all have that one `funny bone` button that will bring out a burst of genuine laughter.
You know the laughter I’m talking about; from the heart and even genuinely hilarious.
Right now, I’m finding a lot of that kind of good laughter with my grandson. He or I will say something funny or silly and suddenly we’ll just start laughing, contagiously. We’ll both continue and it lasts a while. AGAIN, I FEEL SO GOOD!
Not to mention how much our relationship strengthens.
You know what tickles you, so look for it, create it and make daily laughter a habit.
You have nothing to lose. There are NO SIDE EFFECTS you have to be concerned about.
It’s all good! ...because laughter is the best cure.
Once a captain on his ship was disturbed by his assistant telling him, “Sir! Sir! There are five enemy ships on the horizon.”
The captain tells the assistant, “Get my red coat and prepare for battle!”
The assistant runs without question to get the captains red coat and prepares for battle. After their victory the assistant asks the captain why he wanted his red coat.
The captain tells the assistant “If I was shot you would not be able to tell I’m bleeding and you would keep fighting.”
The assistant thought this was a great idea. The next day the assistant came to the captain, “Sir! Sir! There are twenty enemy ships on the horizon!”
The captain was stunned. He looked at the assistant and told him “Get me my brown pants!”
To be happy with a man, you must understand him a lot and love him a little.
To be happy with a woman, you must love her a lot and not try to understand her at all.
Why did the tomato blush?
Because it saw Mr. Green Pea over the fence.
If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?
“If we don’t succeed, we run the risk of failure.” --Al Gore
A woman is like a tea bag – you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water. –Eleanor Roosevelt
I hope your mind just went `on vacation`, at least for a few moments.

"MELANOMA : “NO BIG DEAL ” IT'S JUST SKIN CANCER!
Hi! My name is Nick and I’m 56 yrs. old and this is part of my story. Let me tell you, I was like a lot of people out there and I had no idea that skin cancer was anything bad. I had Basal cell back in 2007, but that was no big deal and it was removed and that was the end of that. No one told me that it was a type of skin cancer (I looked it up on my computer). But still no big deal, it would not kill me.
But I did know the word "Melanoma"....." --by Nick
